The fight against Global Warming is no longer just being waged on the political and corporate stage. The environmental impact created by carbon emissions is now having a more widely visible effect on consumer choices, a fact recognised by local business Ross Llewellyn Motors.

When Mark and Jade first considered buying their new car, Jade had her heart set on a BMW convertible. However, when a friend recommended Jade watch the Al Gore documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" before they went ahead with their purchase, her perspective changed.

Jade and Mark decided to invest in their 6 month old son Jack's future by purchasing an environmentally friendly hybrid car. After tossing up between Honda and Toyota, they decided on the Toyota Prius, which runs on both petrol and electricity.

They purchased their new car from family owned dealership Llewellyn Motors who, in addition to a range of other community involvements, began the Ipswich Green initiative, which looks at ways of making Ipswich a more environmentally conscious city.

Mark, Jade and Jack couldn't be happier with their Prius, not just because of its reduced emissions, but its host of other features, including a clever electronic display which shows how well they're driving. They've even been inspired to design an underground house which will to have 80% energy efficency.
