Low Carbon Diet

Tree Day 2008

Thanks!

The response and support to the Ipswich Green campaign has been great. Here are some of the suggestions sent to us

Raising Awareness

"More signage about reducing emissions. We have signage for 'don't waste water' and that's great. Would be good also to have some signs around to remind people to turn off lights/machines they are not using in their houses; that turning off power at the wall can save dollars; stuff like that. Maybe we could get some permanent electronic signage on the motorway dedicated only to eco/sustainability stuff.
Would love the council to offer a local rebate for installing solar panels. Would also like to see a pledge from council to help its residents reduce emissions from 16.8 to say 13 tonnes over the next year."

Competitions

"Some installations of solar panels in buildings identified as using a lot of energy in Ipswich. Something like - showing the analysis of what the building's consumption is, then how much reduction their goal is by a certain date. A bit of ceremony attached :) Also, it would be great (if not already done), to have some street competitions, where houses in a street compete with other streets (or sections of big streets) to decrease emissions/water usage etc. Prize could be, all energy in the street changed to green energy for 3 months and paid for by sponsors..."
